FAQs
Do you accept insurance?
Daybreak Psychology is out of network with all insurance companies. If you are interested in seeking reimbursement from your insurance company, you may inquire with your insurance company about the out of network benefits of your plan. Daybreak Psychology can provide you with a Superbill upon request, which is a detailed statement including the information your insurance company would need in order to consider your reimbursement request.
Payment of fees for service is required to be paid by the client at the time of each appointment and any eligible out of network reimbursement would be paid by your insurance company directly to you. Daybreak Psychology does not guarantee any reimbursement will be granted by your insurance and recommends that you research your benefits before beginning therapy with an out of network provider.
Sonya values making therapy accessible and believes it is important for people to be able use their hard earned insurance benefits. In support of that value, she has made the decision to continue accepting insurance clients through a local group practice in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Sonya only accepts insurance for clients who live in the state of Minnesota. If you are a resident of Minnesota and would like to see if you can use your insurance benefits, please contact Sonya to inquire about availability.
For clients who live in a participating PSYPACT state or who wish to pay privately, Sonya has self-pay rates for services (see below).
What are your fees for service?
Sonya’s current self-pay rates are as follows:
Diagnostic Assessment/Intake Appointment: $225
Individual Therapy Session: $185
Couples Therapy Session: $200
*All therapy sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes. The diagnostic assessment is 60 minutes.
What is PSYPACT?
PSYPACT is the interstate compact that allows licensed psychologists in participating states to see clients for telepsychology in other PSYPACT states without requiring a license to practice in each individual state. It is a wonderful effort to increase access to telepsychology services that was started pre-pandemic but is even more needed now in these current times of high mental health needs.
What states are included in PSYPACT?
For a list of current PSYPACT participating states, please visit the PSYPACT website at: https://www.psypact.org/psypactmap.
Additional states are being added to PSYPACT on an ongoing basis.
Do you have a sliding scale?
Yes. Daybreak Psychology offers a limited number of sliding scale slots for clients who are unable to pay the full fee rate. The sliding scale offers a range of fees that are based on the client’s household income. In an effort to make psychotherapy more accessible during economic hardship, if the sliding scale fee that corresponds to a client’s household income is not feasible, Daybreak Psychology will also allow a reduced fee for those in significant financial hardship. Please contact us to inquire about availability of sliding scale slots and for more information.
Do you offer any in person services?
Currently, Sonya is only offering services via secure HIPAA compliant telehealth video platforms.
Good Faith Estimate
According to the “No Surprises Act,” you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” that provides an estimate of the cost of your therapy services. As therapy is typically an ongoing and recurring service, it can be difficult to give a definitive estimate of the total cost of your therapy services due to many individual factors that impact the frequency and duration of your therapeutic process. Before receiving any services from Daybreak Psychology, you will receive detailed information of what costs you can expect when receiving therapy services from Daybreak Psychology. If you are interested in receiving a formal Good Faith Estimate specific to your treatment recommendations for the current year, please notify your provider. For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
